Chepkosgei when asked by magistrate Obulutsa if she had indeed participated in aforementioned races, nodded in agreement. “I was identified as a male, but when I became an athlete, I registered myself as female,” he told the court. The 29-year-old man, as Chepkosgei a female athlete marathoner, has won three gold medals in Zambia.
Chief Magistrate Obulutsa ruled that Chepkosgei should be remanded for 10 more days so that investigations over her birth certificate, identification card and passport can be completed.
